Complete self-lost between...

Well, at last, I've been able to submit a traditional piece. This one is quite old, but until I've got a camera I've been unable to take a shot of it.

This was a final project for university. It consists of a written thesis of +100 pages about the evolution of the concept. It contains more than 100 sketches and painting try-outs in small sizes, and also all documentation and sources and stuff like that, it took me around two months to complete it. The main concept was the deformations of the body along with the loneliness (yes, I'm that weird).

The painting is 85 x 35 inches (200x80 cm) more or less. The base background was made in acrylic using diverse textures as paper, stucco, different kinds of earth and a lot of painting layers. The life-form was done in oils. The support is a wood piece I found in the street (yeah, and it was that big!) and it took me 3 days to make the background and another two for the life form.

This is, by far, my favourite piece of myself. I have it hanged in the steps of my house and it's not even for sale, it's a part of me. I've been a traditional painter for many years and this was the highest conclusion I could get personally, because after this piece, I have not painted again (traditionally I mean).

It's a real pitty you cannot see it live. I'll try sometime to take some macro shots of the textures for you to see.

The concept? No quote this time, keep in mind this painting is the result of a two months of investigation, reading many books, watching a lot of artists, getting a bunch of sources related to the theme... Try to find your own meaning by what the piece inspires to you (:
